If you manage digital signage screens through My Signage Portal, you'll know the routine. You've got a new promotion to push live — a lunchtime deal, a weekend offer, a new product image. So you open a browser, log into the portal, navigate to the media section, upload the file, check the resolution, create a playlist, add the content, check the publishing settings and hit publish. By the time it's done, it's taken five minutes for what should have been a thirty-second job.
We built MSP Publisher to fix that.
What Is MSP Publisher?
MSP Publisher is a lightweight desktop application designed specifically for My Signage Portal users. Instead of going through the portal every time you want to update a screen, you drag your image or video file onto the app, select your target player from a dropdown, and click Publish. That's it — your content is live.
It's available for Windows 11 and macOS, and it's free for Impact Digital Signage customers with an active My Signage Portal subscription.
Why We Built It
My Signage Portal is a powerful content management system — scheduling, multi-screen management, playlist control — but not every update needs that level of complexity. For simple, single-screen updates, the full portal interface is overkill.
We found that many of our customers — particularly in retail and hospitality — were updating their screens with a single image or video several times a week. A new daily special. A flash sale. A seasonal promotion. Each time, they were going through the full portal workflow when what they really needed was something much faster.
MSP Publisher strips the process back to the bare essentials. If all you need to do is get a file onto a screen right now, this is the quickest way to do it.
How It Works
The workflow is three steps:
1. Prepare your content
Create your image or video in whatever tool you already use — Canva, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Keynote. Export it at the correct resolution for your screen (eg. 1920×1080px for landscape Full HD, 1080×1920px for portrait). Save it to your computer.
2. Drag and drop onto MSP Publisher
Open the app, choose your target player from the dropdown, and drag your file into the window. MSP Publisher automatically checks that the file format and resolution match the selected player — if there's a mismatch, it'll flag it before anything goes live. This catches the most common mistake in digital signage content management: pushing a 4K file to a Full HD screen, or a portrait file to a landscape display.
3. Click Publish
Your content publishes immediately to the selected player as a default playlist. No browser. No portal login (MSP Publisher will save your login details after your first use). No waiting.
What It Supports
MSP Publisher currently supports:
- Images: PNG and JPG
- Video: MP4 and AVI
- Resolutions: Full HD and 4K, both landscape and portrait orientations
- Platforms: Windows 11 and macOS
One important note: MSP Publisher handles instant, single-file publishing. For scheduled content, multi-asset playlists, or managing multiple screens simultaneously, you'll still use My Signage Portal — that's where its full feature set comes into its own. Think of MSP Publisher as the quick-draw option for everyday updates.
Who Is It For?
MSP Publisher is particularly useful for:
- Retail businesses updating promotions, window displays, or point-of-sale screens regularly
- Cafés and restaurants running daily specials or seasonal menus on digital menu boards
-
Gyms and Schools updating timetables on the fly each day
- Any business where the same person manages the screens and creates the content, and wants to cut out the middleman
If you're already using My Signage Portal through Impact Digital Signage and you're finding that simple screen updates take longer than they should, MSP Publisher was built for you.
